Lake Mburo National park, Bwindi Gorilla Safari in Uganda
Lake Mburo National Park is located in Kiruhura district in western and the park is situated about 30 kilometers, by road, east of Mbarara, which is the largest city in the sub region. The park has variety of animals which include; zebras, impala, buffalos and many bird species. There is also a boat cruise which can be carried out on the lake. This park is the smallest park in Uganda and it has got camp grounds and permanent tent facilities for the visitors who come for safari tours to Mbarara, Uganda.
Lake Mburo forms 13 other lakes in the area, and its part of 50km long wetland system linked by a swamp, 5 of these lakes lie within the park boundaries. It also covered by open savannah and contains much woodland as there are no elephants to tame the vegetation. In the western part of the part, the savannah is interspersed with rocky ridges and forested gorges while patches of papyrus swamp and the narrow bands of the lush riparian lakes, all these have attracted many people to come for safaris to Uganda.
Uganda wildlife Authority has greatly worked hard at protecting and preserving the wildlife species within the park, this has helped in increasing their numbers in their habitants, it has put in place many rules and regulations which has helped in increasing awareness to the local people who want to encroach the park land to instead work together with the park management in improving tourism in the national park.
